Best Foot Forward was awarded the Queens Award for Enterprise in the Sustainable Development category in 2005 for our ecological footprinting work.
Our directors have written books including Sharing Nature’s Interest and the ZED book.
Our Story
Best Foot Forward was started in 1997 by Nicky Chambers and Craig Simmons. As our name suggests, the company was founded to deliver footprint analyses, recommend changes to increase eco-efficiency and in turn reduce our impact on the planet. This dedication to the true ethos of sustainability is central to our professional work, and a principle under which the company operates.
We have always been innovators and strive to drive development in our sector. The strength of – and need for – holistic accounting has been recognised, and a methodology that we helped to develop is now very much in the mainstream. We are constantly evolving and are now most frequently commissioned by large corporations, government departments and official programmes.
We maintain an ethical policy and will not work with particular industry sectors. However, within the politicised sphere of applying sustainability in the mainstream, we are committed to helping as broad a range and as many clients as possible. We realise that by undertaking robust, complex analyses and powerfully communicating our results, we can significantly contribute to developing a low carbon economy.
